Kate has been painting her NHS colleagues at work since February 2020. As the pandemic unfolded, we changed our smart clothes into scrubs, our indoor workplaces became deserted and became draughty outside tents. Consultations were done at the car-side, and Practices and patients had to adapt to phone calls and telemedicine consultation. The emergency departments started to run parallel covid and non-covid streaming pathways, and no visitors were allowed. operations were cancelled. The hospital art projects were suspended, and during this time Kate started to paint her friends at work, in Norfolk, Suffolk, South Wales and London. The project is still ongoing. Kate is proud to be part of Cambridge Science Festival 2021, because the story of the last year has shown the path from virus to research to lab to vaccine to health care provider to patient in never a more urgent and beautiful way.
